NEC Festival of Quilts

Last week it was the Festival of Quilts at the NEC in Birmingham it was on for 4 days we went on the Friday and unfortunately ended up in a traffic jam when we were only 15mins away from the NEC we sat in slow moving traffic for 90minutes so we did not arrive till 11.30 when we set off at 7am and should have been there by 10 am.
This particular quilt which looks like log cabin is actually knitted with a fabric backing which as quilted together a clever idea.

I have actually seen the Bayeux Tapestry in France the detail on this was amazing.

I thought this was brilliant!!

This one reminded me of my holiday in France this year we have been a Battle field tour and I had climbed a couple of tall towers this just reminded me of all the steps.
The detail on this was brilliant as you can see see quilted the body using words about how you become over weight.
There were plenty of stall selling loads of fabric so of course I bought some to swell my stash, we are away at the caravan for the next week so I have taken my cutting board and fabric with me so that I can start on some cutting out!!

Beading in Robinhoods Bay

I have been going to my usual bead work classes over the Summer in Robinhoods Bay,
These 2 necklaces are from a wire work class by Julie Ashby from Spellbound Bead Co we also had a class with her last year our Tutor Jenny invites guest Teachers.

This Necklace is one of Jenny's designs which had a Elizabethan influence when she designed it we actually managed to do this in a day usually we don't finish what we have started and may take weeks to finish items I have alot of UFO's.

I had also decided to do the same pattern for my partner but I have missed the tree of.

HOE Raindeer

There was a knock at the door today and there stood the Postman with a parcel for me which I had to sign for unfortunately I had an angry Jack Russell under my arm as she hates the Postman so it was very hard to sign for it. Once I had it open I found this lovely Raindeer Floss Tag from Becky Kirkbride it is from The Needle's Content. It is stitched on a sparking fabric which doesn't show up on the picture.
I have not done much stitching recently as I have been knitting a soft toy I am off to a Bead Fair at the weekend.

End of January already

I cannot believe it is already the end of January, I do not have much stitching to show for it, I have been trying to finish the LHN Monthly Ornaments this is my 2nd one this month, just 2 more to go, I have signed up for the auto shipping for this years LHN ornaments and the 1st one is in the post from the USA so should arrive anytime.
My Birthday was in December I forgot to show what my mother bought me it is one of Sue Hawkins Biscornu's stitched on canvas I also got a pair of scissors to go with it.
I told my Husband that I wanted a glass frog for Christmas and I thought this might be an impossible request, I had seen quite a few on eBay but he will not buy of this site so this left us going into Charity shops, Antique shops and Flee Market and luckily we actually found one in Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors, I am very pleased with it so I can now display my Scissors, We know a chap who does wood turning to I am going to see If I can get a little dish made for it to stand on.

I know this is a strange picture but I just had to show you my new hammer, there is a great Hardwear shop in York called Barnitts which just has everything in you would every want for the household, when we were wondering about the other week my Hubby saw this hammer and thought it would be ideal for my stitching as I do occasional need to use a hammer so I have my very own one now it fits nicely into one of my stitching bags.
